What is two-factor authentication (2FA) and why should you use it?

Two Fector Authentication is an extra layer of security used to make sure that people trying to gain access to an online account are who they say they are.

Two-factor authentication is a method of establishing access to an online account or computer that require the user to provide two different type of information of login.

Two-factor authentication also enables businesses and public institutions to be more productive and efficient, allowing employees to perform remote task with far less security issues.

What are the authentication factors ?

There are few different ways in which someone can be authenticated using more then one authentication method. For example to use 2FA on your email or other accounts, you have a few choises.

Physical Security Key : This functions like a lock, but you have to buy box of keys.

Google Authenticator App : You have to install the app on your mobile phone, and then when you going to sign into your gmail you get security otp on your google authentication app to verify your login.

Verification Code : This option sends you a one time numeric code on your mobile by SMS or voice call that you insert to verify the identity.

Potential downsides to two-factor authentication

So here is how Two-Factor Authentication work when you want to access your account you put your user name and password in the user name section and when you click on the submit. The website send the request for your second piece of info and SMS with verification code on your Goole authentication app. Only you have to put the verification code over the login screen to verify your identity to access your account.
