Android-to-iPhone Messaging Gets Major Upgrade: Message Editing Now Supported
Apple added Rich Communication Services (RCS) support to iMessage with iOS 18, released last year. This improved cross-platform messaging between Android and iPhone users. Features like high-quality photo and video sharing, typing indicators, and read receipts became available in Android-iPhone chats. However, one key feature, message editing in Google Messages, was still missing.
That’s now changing. According to a new report from Android Authority, Google is rolling out the ability to edit messages sent from Android devices to iPhones via Google Messages. The feature works in both individual and group chats. It follows the same 15-minute editing window already available in native Android and iOS messaging apps.

The feature currently seems to be limited to a handful of users. (Image Source: Android Authority)

*
) prefix to indicate it has been modified. - iPhone users currently can’t edit RCS messages, likely because Apple’s Messages app does not yet support RCS message editing.
- The feature is currently being rolled out to beta users of Google Messages and may not be available on all devices just yet.
